My Internet Marketing Experience

I have spent too much time today trying to find a theme that I was happy with. I have finally settled on

News Match 1.0 by NewWpThemes.com

for now. Until I learn more about customising a theme this one had the most characteristics that i was looking for.

These were being able to have page and category menus with a nice and uncluttered appearance. Also I wanted a to include a video and have a banner ad.

I also worked out how to put an ad for GVO in the side bar. In GVO’s banner section you can right click on the banner you wish to display and copy the link for the image to the side banner ad section within the theme options and ad “, http//:www.yourdomain.com” to the end.

For now I have linked to a video on GVO fromYoutube. My next task is to learn and produce my own video using  GVO’s E Video Producer.

I also want to ad a subscribe block and use GVO’s EResponder to capture and keep subscribers upto date.

Some observations and do not know how tos!

The heading in each category was coming up as “Archive for ‘xxxxxxx’ Category”. I did not like this and tried to remove it but not being an experienced php programmer could not work out how to remove it so I deleted the “Archive text”.

I see that the the embedded links do not show when the posts are in I guess preliminary or excerpt mode (not sure of the terminology) but display when the “Read more…” is clicked. I would like to see them in the prelim mode also but do not know how to do that.

The links to previous and next posts appear on the posts within each category though the posts do not relate to that category. Could be confusing to the reader.

Hello All,

This is a blog that I have created with the help of Wordpress.

I registered my domain name and set up my hosting account with GVO.

I am new to Wordpress and blogging and any comments would be appreciated especially if they offer valuable advice and assistance.

I selected the Strownes theme as I liked it’s layout. There were no options to affect the appearance of the header, however, I found the style sheet and changed them there. I did fall into the trap of not refreshing the cache when visiting the site after making changes and confused myself by not seeing the changes.

I have set up pages for static stuff although I will add updates from time to time.

I have set up categories for each product or feature I intend discussing.
